New Kiwanis Club Formed in Roswell

A new Kiwanis club is coming to Roswell.  Historic Roswell Kiwanis, assisted financially by other clubs in the 14th Division, has formed a Kiwanis Aktion Club, a club for adults living with disabilities.

Over a year ago, Roswell Kiwanian Roger Lamprey began exploring the idea for an Aktion club in our city.  He tried to identify a facility or agency that might be a good starting point. Ultimately, Just People, Inc. was the chosen agency.

On January 18, 2011, an organizing committee met with residents of Just People Village and assisted them in the election of officers for this new Aktion Club.  In addition to Roger Lamprey (who will conduct officer training on February 1), Matt Ashman, Jim Hirz, Kathy Pressley and Chris Van de
Griend were present to assist with elections. Previously, Historic Roswell Kiwanis hosted prospective members of this new club at our Bring One for the Chipper Christmas tree recycling.

The new club decide their first service project would be a canned food drive.  Their meetings will be the second Tuesday each month at 7 pm.
