The Kiwanis Club of Historic Roswell and Crabapple Middle School Builders Club recently held their 2013 annual fishing outing for the youngsters of the Child Development Association of North Fulton (CDA).

The outing was held at the home of David and Susan Hall, Lake Grace,  in Roswell.  The Hall’s family multi-home compound has a lake which is ideal for fishing.  For many of these children, this was the first time that they have participated in such an outing.  Fishing was "catch and release."  Chilren in groups rotated through fishing, a Keep Roswell Beautiful environmental activity, and visits to the police officers and the fire department personnel.

Roswell Fire Rescue Emergency Medical Technicians were on-site throughout the entire event, demonstrating their equipment. Roswell Police were also present and discussed public safety with the children.  Each child received a book as part of Kiwanis' Read Around the World

Historic Roswell Kiwanis is an active partner with the Child Development Association of North Fulton, conducting several events yearly for the children served there, and conducting hands-on projects to improve the facility. Additionally, Kiwanis Club of Historic Roswell is a financial supporter of this important part of Roswell’s social services.

The Association was founded in 1967 by a group of concerned citizens after a young North Fulton child died of malnutrition. Its primary purpose both then and now was to provide quality care for children from low income working families. Today the Association serves more than 300 children and their families annually in its nationally accredited child care programs, and also operates the North Fulton Human Service Center that houses other area non-profit agencies.
